Amazon Week 2026
BIOECONOMY AND SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT IN ACTION
Berlin, Brussels, London, Paris, Zagreb
June 01-06, 2026
Amazon Week 2026 builds on the outcomes of the UNFCCC COP30, held in Belém last year, and focuses on advancing implementation through concrete partnerships, market-based solutions, and enhanced investment towards sustainable development. COP30 underscored the central role of forests in climate stability, biodiversity conservation, and inclusive development, while strengthening frameworks for mitigation, adaptation, climate finance, and just transitions.
The fourth edition of Amazon Week will seek to engage European partners in translating climate and biodiversity commitments into practical initiatives and will take place across Berlin, Brussels, Paris and, for the first time, London and Zagreb, with emphasis on the following areas:
Bioeconomy and Sustainable Value Chains:
The programme will spotlight bioeconomy initiatives that advance conservation and the sustainable use of biodiversity, foster innovation, and generate income for local communities. It will also facilitate discussions on how the bioeconomy can support the Roadmap to Combat Deforestation - a Brazilian COP30 initiative - by offering a practical pathway toward sustainable, equitable, and socially just development.
Market Access and Trade Promotion:
Discussions will focus on improving access to European markets for Amazonian products and services, strengthening sustainable value chains and enhancing competitiveness. The programme will also examine how the bioeconomy can add value to local economies by expanding opportunities for small producers, cooperatives, and indigenous and traditional peoples and communities.
Finance and Knowledge Sharing:
The initiative will promote dialogue among governments, financial institutions, the private sector, academia, and civil society on financing mechanisms and the exchange of best practices. It will also underscore the fight against environmental racism, reaffirming that this agenda is inseparable from the protection of human rights.
Overall, Amazon Week 2026 will bring together policy dialogue, networking, and business matchmaking with cultural initiatives that celebrate the Amazon’s diversity. Partners are invited to actively co-create events and activities, reinforcing the collaborative and inclusive spirit that defines Amazon Week.
